About Us

How we work, what we believe, and where we're headed.

๐ŸŽ“ A Team Across Schools

Our strength comes from diversity. Team members attend Westwood, Meridian, and Cedar Park. We bring different perspectives, experiences, and skills to the table โ€” and that makes us better.

Recruitment

Open to all Austin-area high school students. We look for people who are curious, not just experienced. No prior robotics background needed.

Learning

New members learn about FIRST, robot design, and how we work as a team before touching hardware. Everyone gets up to speed.

Instruction

Hands-on workshops for hardware, software, and CAD. Everyone learns the basics of everything.

FUN

Team bonding events and building a community. If it's not fun, what's the point?

Season Plan

  • Kickoff โ€” introduce new members, review rules
  • Prototyping โ€” test multiple designs before committing
  • Build sessions and programming sprints
  • Outreach events and robot demos
  • Competitions โ€” scrimmages, leagues, state
  • Review, reflect, prep for next season

Goals

  • Consistent autonomous scoring
  • 100+ outreach hours
  • Mentor 5+ rookie teams
  • Document and improve robot reliability
  • Grow social media presence

Every member picks a specialty โ€” Hardware, Software, CAD, or Outreach. But everyone learns a bit of everything.

Captains are elected by democratic vote after giving speeches. Two co-captains share the load so no one person burns out.

Team Plan

We meet once a week (sometimes more before competitions). Each session has a clear agenda โ€” build, code, test, or outreach. We document everything in meeting logs.
